Finally….quilting season has arrived…..

I haven’t yet put the yard/garden to bed for the winter but the sewing room has been calling me for a long time and I can’t resist……

One of our local quilt shops, The Crafty Quilter, offered me the opportunity to quilt the beautiful Hoffman Dream Big Holiday panel in red and I couldn’t resist. She gave it to me in August and it’s been calling to me ever since……..and I finally succumbed. As the owner did want it before Christmas it was first on the list to get completed this fall. I delivered it on October 20th so it’s now hanging in the shop. Run down there now to get your panel before she’s sold out!

This wall quilt measures 41.5″ w x 41″ long. I used a variety of threads: Wonderfil holograph in red, two shades of Sulky red, two shades of Wonderfil green and a Wonderfil invisifil in a dark, dark grey for the matchsticks. Two layers of batting, one of 80/20 and one of wool, give the quilting its texture & definition. All quilting is hand guided by me on my HQ Sweet Sixteen.

I’m disappointed in my photography skill; I just can’t get the glitter to show well that I stitched in the red leaves. Any tips?
